Do you follow @busytoddler on Instagram? The sweet mama behind that account has started a movement called #proofofmom with the whole purpose of getting moms in front of the camera! It doesn’t matter if you’re in a fancy outfit with makeup on or in workout clothes and three day old hair. The goal is to capture moments and memories with your kids. I love it. For Mother’s Day, I did a Mommy & Me photo session giveaway on Instagram to help further the proof of mom movement. I had so many wonderful women enter the contest and I was so excited when Kate, my new friend from our local children’s gym, won! She has an adorable son named Jude that’s just a little younger than my James. I joined Kate and Jude at their house for a lifestyle family session. These two played with blocks, cars, toys, and read books in the rocking chair. We did all of Jude’s favorite things in his room and we created such sweet memories! We got proof of mom!! I loved this session and hope to do many more just like it in the future!!
Do you have a longtime friend that you may not see for a year or two but then when you do, it’s like no time has passed? Kara is that person for me. We first met in high school when I was 13. She has the kindest, most encouraging, gentle heart with a side of sass and humor. We spent our high school years (only 3, since she’s one year older than me!) laughing, creating yearbooks, having sleepovers, going to youth group, and making so many memories together. Kara moved to Fort Myers after high school graduation for college and later met her future husband, John. They now live in beautiful, sunny Fort Myers with their handsome little man JJ and their newest addition, Emmett. Two beautiful boys under two! Kara is supermama! I wish we lived closer so that our boys could play together more but it was such a treat to go on a little road trip last month so that I could photograph this sweet family. Congratulations, Kara and John, your family is perfect and we are so excited for you!!
I am so glad that Megan reached out for some Mommy & Me photos with her sweet daughter Sophie, who just turned one! As a mom, Megan knew it was rare for her to actually be IN the photos. She took action, contacted me and said “I want to be in the photos with my daughter!” YES! We got together at Armature Works and had so much fun! Sophie is the sweetest little lady. Sweet little Remy turned ONE last month and we celebrated her birthday with some portraits at home. Remy and big brother Royce are such a fun pair together. They were making each other smile and laugh during the entire session! It’s so much fun to document families as they grow. I first met Jessica and Mike for their engagement session in 2014 and then Royce’s newborn photos in 2016, his first birthday photos, then Remy’s newborn photos in 2018 and now her one year session! Love this family!
This sweet family is welcoming a baby boy in a few weeks! Catrina, Paul and big sister Ellie, can’t wait to meet their newest little family member, JD! Kara and Nick got married on Sunday at the coolest venue ever – the Orlando Science Center! They held their ceremony in the Our Planet room with a huge globe as their backdrop. After they said “I Do”, we went outside on the Suntrust Terrace for portraits and then headed inside to the Dino Digs room for the reception. Dinosaurs everywhere! Kara and Nick chose their venue specifically for the dinosaurs. Such a unique and fun space! Puff N Stuff catering provided a delicious dinner and Tropix got the party started with their live music and salsa dancing. It was a great evening! Congratulations, Kara and Nick!
Happy ONE year anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Peterson! Ashley and Devin said “I do” one year ago at SeaScapes Beach House at MacDill Air Force Base. Their wedding will forever be one of my favorites. I will always remember Ashley’s extra sweet spirit as a bride, the rain drops that fell during their ceremony that were quickly replaced by sunshine, Ashley’s brother officiating the wedding, Devin’s joy as he married his beautiful wife. It was the PERFECT day. In honor of their anniversary, I asked Ashley and Devin to look back through their wedding gallery and select a few photos that are most meaningful to them. I’ll share their responses under each photo. Happy first anniversary, you two! It’s been quite the year for your family… so excited that you’re now a family of 3!! Baby Jack is adorable!

The picture of me crying during the ceremony brings back all the feels for me. I was truly pouring out my heart reading my vows I had written him. I also love that you can see all my girls.”
Congratulations to all of the 2019 high school seniors! Such an exciting time! I photographed this beautiful lady a few weeks ago at the gorgeous Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. Ellie is a talented singer (she is one of the worship singers at our church!), super strong (she does crossfit competitions!) and will be graduating soon and heading to Florida State University in the Fall.
